IMI is the professional association for individuals working in the retail motor industry and the authoritative voice of the sector. IMI is transforming the automotive industry by setting, upholding and promoting professional standards – driving skills acquisition, establishing clearer career paths, and boosting public confidence.
Established in 1920, the IMI filled a specific need for individuals desiring recognition for their accomplishments, and the recognition they received led to a steady growth in membership. Those needs still exist today therefore membership and professional recognition remains at the core of our existence.
The Motor Ombudsman is the automotive dispute resolution body. Fully-impartial, it is the first ombudsman to be focused solely on the automotive sector, and self-regulates the UK’s motor industry through its comprehensive Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI)-approved Codes of Practice.
Thousands of businesses, including vehicle manufacturers, warranty product providers, franchised dealers and independent garages, are accredited to one or more of the Codes, which drive even higher standards of work and service, and give consumers added protection, peace of mind and trust during the vehicle purchase and ownership experience.
Servicesure is a quality network of independent garages and workshops across the UK. All Servicesure garages are signed up to our Customer Service Charter and The Motor Ombudsman, a government-backed, self-regulatory body for the motor industry. Our network of garages are regularly audited, giving customers peace of mind when it comes to the quality of service we offer.
All Servicesure Autocentres are committed to maintaining high standards covering car service and repair. We pride ourselves on providing quality service at affordable prices.
The SMTA was formed in 1903 to “encourage, promote and protect” the interest of our, at that time, small band of members. To this day that statement remains our reason to exist. Our job is to look after the interests of all our members whether it’s the largest motor group in the country or whether it’s a small MOT station or even just a one man operation in a remote part of the country.
Our business is your business; we are member owned and member driven and have been ever since our inception way back in 1903. However from being very much an association in our earlier years which was there to help when things went wrong, we have now become a modern 21st century business, but still owned and driven by our members and their needs.
